Mouhamadou Ndoye, or Douts as his close friends call him, was born in 1973 in Sangalkam, Senegal. He belongs to the prestigious colony of artists of reputation who were trained at the Dakar's National School for the Arts (Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts).  After impressive studies, Douts received his diploma from the Visual Arts department in 1999 with painting as his major.  In 2000 as a young artist, he participated in the Dak’art biennale and won the 1st Prize OFF given by the European Union, which opened doors to galleries and institutions that sought to exhibit his work in Europe and the Americas.

Douts' universe is a maze of cleverly worked disordered narrow streets where diverse vehicles circulate.  In his paintings, he uses an accumulation of all kinds of materials.  Corrugated cardboard, pastels, newspapers and linen help to recreate the human warmth and architectural chaos in the Medina neighborhood of Dakar, which is his source of inspiration.

Douts was also initiated in the audiovisual and his works cross the borders of Senegal. Very talented with a rather original style, Douts participates in several exhibits in Senegal and on the five continents. His paintings, inks, and audiovisual projects demonstrate that his work as contemporary and his place as an artist of the twenty-first century.
