Erikan Ekefrey was born in 1981 in Akwa Ibom State. He studied art at the Federal College of Education in Akoka, Lagos. Erikan uses oil and Acrylic on canvas as the media. Erikan gets his inspiration from my father, Emmanuel Ekefrey, who is a renowned Artist in Nigeria. Erikan can be considered the torchbearer of and/or carrying the legacy of this father. Their technic is unique in Nigeria and the world. Erikan’s artwork is conceptual art that comes from the inner man. His vision is to exploit the world in his artwork. His subjects are based on the culture and daily life in Nigeria, depicting his cultural heritage with masked faces and non-figurative images to express feelings, motion, and emotions.
